Part of Spearfishing Australia’s ongoing strategy is improving our Spearfishing retailer’s knowledge and skillset to better inform and educate the general spearfishing community.
With this in mind, Spearfishing Australia recently conducted two retailer Spearfishing educationals` in NSW hosted by Bjorn Nielsen and Neil Dorrian.
Bjorn and Neil have a combined Spearfishing experience of over 50 years and really enjoy imparting their knowledge to benefit their customers and the broader Spearfishing community.
Educationals were conducted up the North Coast at Port Stephens and down the South Coast at Batemans Bay, with approximately 20 stores owners and staff that were eager to learn and improve their general Spearfishing Skills.
Bjorn used his knowledge as a Freediving Instructor to help improve and teach proper Freediving and Breath-hold techniques and Neil taught Gun Rigging, Rubber tying, Wetsuit repairs, and general product features and benefits.
Conditions up the North Coast were superb allowing for a day focusing on Spearfishing Skills including Speargun Loading, Target Shooting, Dive Technique, Entries, and Exits.
Unfortunately, conditions didn’t allow for any in-water action down the South coast, but Neil plans to take out the team on a subsequent visit soon.
Neil had this to say about Spearfishing Educationals “We’ve been conducting these Spearfishing educationals over a number of years now and I really believe that by educating our customers we have been able to help fuel the growth of our amazing Sport and showcase the wonderful Selective and Sustainable recreation we have here in Australia”
Spearfishing Australia plans to conduct similar retailer education programs across Australia to further upskill our Spearfishing retailers in the coming months.
